Dr. James K Allen II MD, FCAP, is a Partner and Medical Director of Mid-Florida Pathology. He is Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Chief of Gastrointestinal pathology DepartmentDr. Allen has provided Pathology services in Florida since 1999. Dr Allen completed his MD degree at the University of Texas being a fellow at the College Of American Pathologists. Using experience drawn from a large corporate practice, Laboratory Medical Directorships and CAP inspector, he will insure Patient Outcome driven Pathology services while meeting the specific needs of our Physician clients. Dr. Allen specialize on Gynecologic, Gastrointestinal, Genitourinary, Fine Needle Aspiration, Nail biopsy interpretation with PAS and Epidermal Nerve Fiber Testing, Breast, and Pulmonary Pathology, with a large outpatient GI component.

 

 

 

     

         Dr. Adriana Doldan MD is the Chief of Cytopathology Department in our Central Florida Location. Dr. Doldan graduated in 2002 from the National Medical University Asunción –  where she completed her residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Baystate Medical Center - Springfield, MA. After graduation she received her Hematopathology and Surgical Pathology Board Certification at Hartford Hospital - Hartford, CT. In 2014 Dr. Doldan received her Cytopathology Board Certification at University of Florida - Jacksonville, FL. Dr. Doldan specialize in Gynecologic, Gastrointestinal, Genitourinary, Fine Needle Aspiration, Podiatric and Oral pathology. 

 

 

 

  

 

       We proudly introduce Dr. Martin R. Austria MD, FCAP. Dr. Austria received his Doctor of Medicine at 1985 at University of the Philippines and having over 30 years of diverse experience in the Pathology specialty. In 1998 Dr. Austria finished Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition, he completed Surgical and Oncological Pathology Fellowship with focus in Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center with the USF in Tampa, Florida. From 1999 till 2012 Dr. Austria was a Staff Pathologist at AmeriPath of Central Florida as a member of Gastrointestinal Pathology Department. Dr. Austria joined Mid-Florida Pathology group from 2015 as Chief of Gastrointestinal and Surgical Pathology Department. He is a fellow and current inspector for the College of American Pathology

 

 

     We proudly introduce Dr. Carlos A. Cerruto, MD, FCAP as our Chief of Dermatopathology department.  He holds board certifications in dermatopathology and Anatomic/Clinical Pathology.  Dr. Cerruto received his medical degree from the Universidad Mayor de San Andres (UMSA), he completed his residency in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology at Washington Hospital Center, and completed two fellowships in Surgical Oncology/GI Pathology and Dermatopathology in 2006 at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.  Dr. Cerruto is an active speaker in both national and international meetings, his research interest are melanocytic neoplasms and soft tissue tumors.  He enjoys cycling and spending time with his family.

 

 

       We proudly introduce Dr. Lorna Cruz as our Chief of Hematopathology and Neuropathology department. Dr. Cruz finished her internship at Porac District Hospital, Tondo General Hospital and Medical Center. She did her residency at Washington Hospital Center and her fellowship was competed at Scott and White Memorial Hospital, Armed Forces Institute of Pathology.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

      We proudly introduce Dr. Mario Blanco MD, FCAP. He is Board Certified in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology. He received his medical degree from Universidad de Costa Rica Faculty of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 35 years. Dr. Blanco completed his Fellowship in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He completed his residency in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology at the Mount Sinai Medical Center of Florida.

 

 

 

 

 

 

We proudly introduce Dr. Leo Lu, MD, FCAP, FIAC. He is Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, Cytopathology with the subspecialty in Uropathology. A graduate of Rangoon Institute of Medicine (I) in Rangoon, Burma and was first trained in anatomic and clinical pathology in Kwong Wah Hospital, Hong Kong. Dr. Lu went on to complete his residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology; fellowships in Surgical Pathology, Cytopathology, research pathology at University Medical Center, University of Florida Health Science Center, Jacksonville campus. He was also trained in an immunopathology fellowship at Yale University's Norwalk Hospital, Connecticut.  Dr. Lu’s over thirty five years of experience in pathology has included practice in academic settings, national reference laboratories, and private hospital based laboratory.

 

 

  We proudly introduce Dr. Mohammad Haija, MD.   Dr. Haija received his medical degree from the University of Jordan in 2002, and he completed his residency in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology at Temple University Hospital in 2009. After residency he completed two fellowships in Hematopathology (at Indiana University) and Oncologic Surgical Pathology/GI Pathology (at Moffitt Cancer Center). He holds board certifications in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology and Hematopathology.  Dr. Haija enjoys traveling, kayaking and spending time with his family.

 

 

 

 

 

        We proudly introduce Dr. Carlos M Torres MD as Associate Pathologist. In 1994, Dr. Torres completed a 3-year Anatomic Pathology Residency at Barnes Hospital/Washington University, St. Louis MO.  He then completed a 1-year Oncologic Surgical Pathology Fellowship at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center/UTHSC, Houston TX, followed by a 1-year Gastrointestinal and Liver/Pancreas Pathology Fellowship at Brigham & Women's Hospital/Harvard Medical School, Boston MA. He is Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology since 1996. From 2000 to 2012, Dr. Torres was Staff Pathologist and Director of Quality Assurance at large reference laboratory in Dallas TX, in which Dr. Torres was instrumental in creating a rather unique model of GI subspecialty-focused laboratory. Dr. Torres contributed to the success and growth of the operation, with the principle of providing the highest standards of patient care and service to GI clinicians. Dr. Torres joined Mid-Florida Pathology from 2017.

 

     We proudly introduce Dr. Gert Jacobus Smalberger, MD as Associate Pathologist in Mid-Florida Pathology. Dr. Smalberger holds Board Certifications in Dermatopathology and Anatomic Pathology.  He received his medical degree from the University of Pretoria, completed residency in Anatomic Pathology at SUNY Downstate and the University of Washington, and completed his fellowship in Dermatopathology at the Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Smalberger holds a diploma in Clinical Dermatology from the University of London. He is joined Mid-Florida Pathology as Associate Pathologist from 2017.
