Comprehensive Uropathology Expertise
Uropathology encompasses a broad spectrum of inflammatory, benign, premalignant, and malignant conditions. Our pathologists evaluate biopsies, resections, and other surgical specimens involving:
- Prostate: prostate needle biopsies, benign prostatic conditions, prostate adenocarcinoma, grading and risk-related pathologic features, and radical prostatectomy specimens.
- Bladder and urinary tract: inflammatory and reactive conditions, urothelial lesions, carcinoma in situ, urothelial carcinoma, and other benign and malignant neoplasms.
- Kidney: medical and neoplastic conditions encountered in surgical specimens, including renal cell tumors and other primary or metastatic malignancies.
- Testis and paratesticular tissues: inflammatory disorders, germ cell tumors, sex cord-stromal tumors, and other benign and malignant lesions.
- Penis and male genital tract: inflammatory, premalignant, and malignant conditions requiring histopathologic evaluation.
Prostate Pathology
Accurate evaluation of prostate specimens is an important component of prostate cancer diagnosis and management.
Mid-Florida Pathology provides detailed interpretation of prostate needle biopsies, transurethral resection specimens, and prostatectomy specimens. When carcinoma is identified, reports provide clinically relevant information such as tumor type, grade, and other pathologic features appropriate to the specimen.
Our goal is to provide clear and reproducible diagnostic information that assists urologists and oncologists in risk assessment and treatment planning.
Genitourinary Oncology
Pathology plays a central role in the diagnosis, classification, staging, and management of genitourinary malignancies.
Our pathologists evaluate prostate, bladder, kidney, testicular, and other genitourinary tumors with attention to tumor classification, grade, extent of invasion, surgical margins, lymphovascular invasion, lymph node involvement, pathologic stage, and other clinically significant features when applicable.
Immunohistochemistry, molecular diagnostics, and other ancillary studies may be incorporated when appropriate to refine tumor classification, determine tumor origin, or provide additional clinically relevant information.
Integrated Diagnostic Approach
Mid-Florida Pathology combines careful morphologic evaluation with clinical history, imaging, laboratory findings, immunohistochemistry, and other ancillary diagnostic techniques when appropriate.
This integrated approach is particularly valuable in diagnostically challenging lesions, unusual tumor presentations, and cases in which distinguishing primary from metastatic disease may significantly influence patient management.
Direct Physician Consultation and Clear Reporting
Mid-Florida Pathology’s pathologists are readily accessible to urologists, oncologists, surgeons, and other members of the clinical team for case discussions, diagnostic consultation, and clinicopathologic correlation.
Our reports are designed to communicate complex findings clearly and efficiently using precise, clinically familiar terminology. Standardized grading, staging, and other relevant pathologic parameters are incorporated when appropriate to provide clinicians with actionable information for patient management.
Our Commitment
Mid-Florida Pathology is committed to providing the urology community with subspecialty expertise, diagnostic precision, timely reporting, direct physician accessibility, and personalized service.
Every specimen represents a patient whose treatment may depend on an accurate and timely diagnosis. Our goal is to provide the diagnostic clarity and clinical perspective physicians need to make confident, informed decisions for their patients.
Specialized expertise. Diagnostic precision. Responsive consultation. Better patient care.
